I never get tired of watching what Mother Nature does with colour.
Red Sunset was created intuitively, without a particular place or reference in mind. I simply started painting and allowed the colours, shapes and movement to take the lead.
I find myself constantly staring at the sky in awe. One minute it can be soft and peaceful, the next it’s alive with intense reds, oranges and flashes of light. No two sunsets are ever quite the same.
That feeling became the inspiration behind this piece. Bold colour, loose marks and rich texture come together to capture the energy and magnificence of an ever changing sky.
For me, Red Sunset is a reminder to look up every now and then. Nature puts on a pretty incredible show when we actually take the time to notice it.
