Some places hold memories that you want to keep close.
Cottesloe Beach was originally created as a commissioned artwork, inspired by this beautiful stretch of coastline in Perth, Western Australia. The idea was to capture not just the location, but the feeling and memories connected to it.
I used layers of texture, vibrant blues, turquoise and warm earthy tones to create a loose, expressive interpretation of the coast. Rather than focusing on every little detail, I wanted the painting to have that relaxed, open feeling you get when you’re standing by the ocean.
That’s what I love about commissions like this. A landscape can be so much more than a beautiful view. It can remind us of a holiday, a moment, a person or a time in our lives we never want to forget.
Originally created as a 100 x 75cm acrylic on canvas commission, Cottesloe Beach is now available as a fine art print in a range of sizes.
